6 Months Old!

Wow. Wow. Wow. She's SIX MONTHS old! I can hardly believe it.

She is the most wonderful thing that has EVER happened to us and we love her beyond measure.

At six months...

Weight/Height: Her doctor's appointment is not until much later in the month, so for now you'll get our tape measure on the couch and the subtraction method on the scale...the VERY unofficial results: 19. 8 pounds, 26.5 inches. We're probably way off, but there ya go.

Eating: Still a nursing CHAMP! When we started I was really hoping we'd make it this far, and now it's here. Who knows how many times she nurses a day?! She eats when she's hungry, day and night. She's been eating one meal a day of solid food since around 5 months old. So far she's not a real fan of cereal or oatmeal by themselves. She loves sweet potatoes and butternut squash. She loves bananas and oatmeal mixed together. She was NOT a fan of pears. We tried those last night. She eats maybe 2 oz of solids a night? It in NO WAY seems to impact her desire to nurse. And some nights she eats a few bites and says, "nah, not tonight, thanks" and we go with that. Most of the time, food is fabulous!

Sleeping: Ya know, I finally stopped worrying about sleep and what was right and what was wrong. Some nights she gets up a lot. Sometimes we hate that. Some nights she sleeps well and we wonder what we did differently. Andrew gets up with her if we don't think she's hungry and gets her back to sleep. I get up if she's going to eat. And the night before she turned 6 months (and hopefully many more nights in the future) she only got up one time to eat at 3am and then she slept the rest of the night. It was really really nice. But the next night she went back to getting up a bunch,  and I'm not going to stress over it. Someday, someday she'll sleep. And when she's 13 I won't be able to bribe her out of bed. Someone remind me of my cool, calm perspective after she keeps me up all night, okay?

Naps: She's pretty much a two hours up and then a nap kind of kid. Sometimes she breaks the mold just to throw me for a loop, but most of the time she's dependable. I never thought it would happen, and then it did!

Playing: Oh the kid is SO SO BUSY! We've taken to calling her "little search and destroy" this past week because when you put her anywhere, the first thing she does is look around for whatever she can get her hands on that she shouldn't have. It doesn't matter that you've surrounded her with fun toys, they aren't nearly as fun as the dishwashing brushes in a glass vase or the plant from the windowsill...  She likes to play with lots of different toys and I don't know that I can say right now that she has true favorites. It's a constantly changing situation. And that's the way she likes it :-)

Kennedy LOVES standing and "walking." She's still not a fan of hanging out on her belly, but doesn't mind if you put her down that way, she'll just flip over, thank-you-very-much. She does reach out to grab things while she's on her belly if they are really exciting (like cell phones, remote controls or Nutty's fur) but shows no real interest in crawling. She pushes off of you and then flips over...like some sort of swim turn?! She has shown us recently that she's actually very good at turning over from her back to her belly...if she feels like it. She's a social butterfly and does NOT like to be ignored for too long.

She's wearing size 3 diapers as of this week, but probably needed them a little sooner....I was trying to use up size 2's!  She's mostly in 9 month clothing at this point, but sometimes I can still squeeze in a 6 month outfit.

Ladybugs in honor of Sara's visit (more on that later :-))

I'm a sweet girl, I promise.

You're mildly amusing, mom.

Now THERE'S the energy we're used to around here.

We just can't help it. We think she's the cutest, most wonderful girl there is!
