8 weeks

First of all, these pictures are overdue. Here’s what 7 weeks pregnant looked like around the Eckert household.

Today we went to the doctor to check on the babies. There was good news and bad news. I’ll begin with the bad so that we can end on a good note. The bad news is that Baby B is no longer with us. There was no heartbeat this time, and it appeared there had been very little, if any growth since our last visit.

Now the good news. We’re trying to focus on all the good news. Baby A looks wonderful! Strong and healthy with a normal little heartbeat of 173 BPM. We even got to see a little wiggle. Here’s a profile picture including a little hand sticking out the front.

IMG_0048   And week 8 is a very similar picture to week 7 as far as I’m concerned…here’s a picture of Nutty and I yesterday. If there were a time stamp on this picture it would say 4pm. And yes, those are still my PJ’s and no, I never put my contacts in yesterday.

Happy Friday!

So I've been told recently that weekly posts will just not cut it. I will attempt to do better. Just a couple of random Friday morning thoughts:

-There are new people moving in across the street from us. Now you know as well as I do that this means a really fun spying game...who are they? Do they have kids? Are they serial killers? You know, the usual wonderings.
-A ton of foods seem like a terrible idea to me right now. The most depressing of which was cake yesterday at a school baby shower. I couldn't eat all that glorious sweet frosting and filling.
-On the other hand....there's grapefruit. Normally I could take it or leave it. In fact, really its just leave it normally. But I just finished eating an entire grapefruit for breakfast. I cannot express to you how yummy it tastes to me.
-I am so thankful that Andrew is willing to tell me to sit down and stop trying to do things that my body isn't willing to let me do at this stage of the game. You know, like dishes. It's pitiful, but its more than my sensitive tummy can take sometimes. And he's amazing and sending me to the couch. I say sending because rumor has it that I can be a bit stubborn.
-Today I am 8 weeks pregnant! We head back to the doctor on Monday to see what's goin on in this grapefruit loving belly of mine.

TGIF!!!

Thankful on Thursday

This week I'm super thankful!
-I'm thankful for Baby A. Way to be big and strong! You'll be the size of a blueberry tomorrow!
-I'm thankful for Baby B. Grow, baby, grow! You're still the size of a sweet pea, but I'm hoping you'll catch up this week!
-I'm thankful for our friends and family. We are so loved and supported. I feel like there are so many people invested in these babies already. All four of us (whoa.) are so lucky!
-I'm thankful that I get to see a bunch of my favorite people this weekend.
-I'm thankful for hope. I am so thankful that many of my friends are pregnant. And I'm thrilled at the amount of hope I feel for my other "trying" friends. (I understand that sounds awkward...but I can't figure out a better way to put it right now...)
-Bedtimes before 9, snuggling on the couch, and my parents having a fabulous time on their trip!

-FRIDAY. THREE AND A HALF DAY WEEKEND!!!

6.5 Weeks :-)

So today we had our first ultrasound…here are the results:

Oh maybe I failed to mention…THAT’S TWO DIFFERENT BABIES!

It’s TWINS!

We’re super psyched. But, of course, there is a “but”….

Baby B (that’d be the second picture) is smaller than Baby A by about four days of growth. In addition, Baby B’s heart rate is slower than Baby A’s 122 BPM. These two things coupled together told the doctor that there is some cause for concern with Baby B. It’s possible that by the time we go back for our 8 week ultrasound, we’ll just have Baby A. But I sure hope not, Babies, I’m pulling for both of you! (Pulling for…praying for…hoping for….you get the idea…)

And since Melissa agreed to do all my worrying for me, I just get to be thrilled. Double the fun, right?!

It’s been a year.

And what a year it’s been….

On this day last year, I checked into the hospital and I delivered our baby boy. I’ve had a few moments that I’m deeming my own PTSD moments, but I’ve been able to combat last year’s sadness with this year’s excitement.

This year, I am 6 weeks pregnant with a new little miracle (or miracles!). And oh, how excited we are. And worried. And more excitement. And more worry. I mean, have you met me? Of course I worry. I just keep repeating my mantra…no blood, no problem. Lord help me if I have any bleeding. Which yes, I know, would be perfectly normal. But oh, the worry.

I missed out on this week’s thankfuls, so let me get on that right now.

I’m super thankful for Wednesday of this week. We finally get to see the little miracle on screen on Wednesday! (And oh how I’m thankful for him/her/them)

I’m thankful I get to see a bunch of my favorite ladies tomorrow.

I’m thankful that at nearly 10 am, I am still in my PJs.

I’m thankful for my hubby, who understands when I fall asleep at 8, or when I can’t think coherently enough to cook dinner after school.

I’m thankful that my parents get to go on a cruise this week (lucky dogs….)

I’m thankful that Andrew’s mom continues to work hard each day to get better and stronger than ever!

And, of course, I’m thankful for Nutty!
