Thankful on Thursday

*HUBBY. Right, so, I haven't been the easiest person to get along with the past week or so. I am so thankful for you putting up with my insanity. Thanks for getting my kind of crazy.

*Ben. Thanks for all of your help with projects this week. We've gotten so much more done with your help!

*KP. You're the other half of my brain and I have no idea what life would be like without you. No really, I don't. I can't remember life before you. And I like it that way. Duplex?

*Sara. I am LOVING the new excitement in your life. I'm happy we'll be sharing another school year together, albeit a long distance kinda sharing.

*Mom and Dad. Thanks for being the kind of people I WANT to go see all the time. Can't wait for your visit this week.

*My classroom is ready! No, no, back up. I don't mean I've got all my stuff unpacked and I'm ready for students. Calm yourselves. I mean that I have a finished tile floor so now I can start unloading our basement and loading my classroom. This is a relief to me, and my hubby's man cave. It doesn't like piles of things in primary colors. It ruins the zen down there.

*The lady at Kohls today who checked us out. I bought some things, Ben bought some things and she let us combine the overage from the two purchases so that I would get THREE sets of Kohls cash rather than two. And thanks to Ben for handing over that Kohls cash. :-)

*Melissa. I so enjoy our emails. It's not as good as my stopping by your office every morning, but I'm still thankful for them.

*Shannon. Thanks for your emails AND your blog. My goodness, what would I do without my daily dose of Logan's cuteness?!

*My last day with my boyfriend tomorrow. I'm not thankful that it's the last day with him....I'm seriously going to miss my time with him each week, however, I am thankful that I get to spend the day with him. :-)

Happy Friday :-)

Let's talk about FOOD :-)

Lately, I've had some remarkably fun and delicious meals. First, there was a "meeting of the minds" in Raleigh. Originally, the BFF and I were going to go to the Cheesecake Factory...but when they told us we'd have to wait for almost 2 hours, we said no thank you and ventured next door to a little place called the Red Monkey Tavern. Had we heard of it before? No. Why did we go there? How can you possibly pass up a place called the RED MONKEY TAVERN?! And the monkey on the menu has a martini. And then we discovered that they have a small plane hanging in the mall....Now what in the world planes and martinis have to do with monkeys or good food, I don't know, but when you get to eat lobster BLTs with your BFF, WHO CARES?!

Then I returned home to fun and festivities for our friend Ben's birthday. He was even served a giant birthday beverage. Though I cannot divulge the details of this giant drink, I can tell you there was fruit juice involved. That's all I'm willing to share.

Then there was the decision to eat crabs last night. I was thrilled with this plan. OBVIOUSLY.

Oh the carnage.....

Ace quite enjoyed playing with his crabs and then pretending to torture them for information prior to taking their legs off and eating the crab....

Thankful on Thursday

That's right! Two posts in one day! Why, you ask? Because the one from this morning was supposed to be yesterday's post, but Blogger was down when I went to post it.

Without further ado, its Thankful time. And just for something different, this week its Thankful in Pictures.

-Thanks to Lindsey for teaching me how to do this:Original total: $65.14 After coupons and VIC savings: $20.13

-Remember when I was thankful for getting to see Ashley, Jacob and Thomas at Hershey World? Now I'm thankful for this picture of the great day.

-I'm thankful that, not only was a great time had at the Rascal Flatt's concert, but that we also got this great picture of the four of us.
-I'm thankful for this girl. Andrew calls her his "retirement plan." I'm just glad to call her my sister. So stinkin proud of her for following her dreams.
-I'm thankful for this girl too. She's an amazing photographer, and I'm so thankful for her friendship AND getting to call her sister. It's like a BOGO deal. And you know how I feel about BOGO.
(Yes, I know...I stole a pic off of Facebook, but I'm not on my desktop that has all the pics...forgive me)

-Oh, Justin. I am SO thankful for your text messages this week. Nutty misses you. Again, I apologize for the facebook picture stealing.
-I'm thankful for a weekend spent with my wonderful hubs, mom and dad. You've already seen a lot of the pics from the weekend, but I saved this one for my thankful post. This is what two happy people look like after a bike ride on the beach, with a cell phone camera at sunset.
-I'm thankful for fun times with friends that will be had tomorrow evening and in the week to come. Don't worry, I'll take pictures. :-)

-I'm thankful for Ron Clark's new book, The End of Molasses Classes. If you are a teacher, or you are involved somehow in education, PICK IT UP. I'm only 7 chapters in and I can already tell you its another awe-inspiring teacher book. If you have a Kindle, it's only 10 bucks. Really, read it.
And now I'm going back to my reading before my boyfriend wakes up from his nap.....

Knee Deep

Gonna put the world away for a minute
Pretend I don't live in it
Sunshine gonna wash my blues away

Had sweet love but I lost it
Got too close so I fought it
Now I'm lost in the world tryin to find me a better way
Wishin' I was
Knee deep in the water somewhere
got the blue sky, breeze and it don't seem fair

the only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair

Sunrise, there's a fire in the sky

never been so happy

never felt so high

and I think I might have found me my own kind of paradise

Wrote a note, said "Be back in a minute"
Bought a boat and I sailed off in it
Don't think anybody's gonna miss me anyway
Mind on a permanent vacation
The ocean is my only medication

Wishin' my condition ain't ever gonna go away

Now I'm knee deep in the water somewhere

Got the blue sky breeze blowin' wind thru my hair
Only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair

This champagne shore washin' over me
It's a sweet sweet life livin' by the salty sea

One day you can be as lost as me
Change your geography and maybe you might be
Knee deep in the water somewhere
got the blue sky breeze blowin' wind thru my hair

only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair

Sunrise, there's a fire in the sky

never been so happy

never felt so high
and I think I might have found me my own kind of paradise

Fabulous Friday

So where has all of my blogging dedication gone? TO THE BEACH! That's where! I have been back and forth to Emerald Isle for the last couple of weeks. It's amazing. And even better? My hubby gets to go spend the weekend with me this weekend lounging on the beach (me) and and attempting to surf (him). And I do actually have a few pictures to post, and promise to take more this weekend. But I can't do it today, because my camera isn't with me and I'm not home....

So, where am I? Well, today I'm over at my boyfriend's house, hanging out and blogging while he has an afternoon nap. Travis has recently turned a big FOUR months old. So way to go Trav. He's also discovered how to shake things and make them make noise. It's hysterical.

In other funny news (at least to me) the TV is on in the background while I type this. Its some baby show (don't ask which one, I don't know) and they are talking about how this couple can't get pregnant and they keep getting negative pregnancy tests....except the test they show on the screen is a POSITIVE test. Multiple other POSITIVE tests are in the background....Who do they think watches this show? Obviously not people who know the difference between a positive test and a negative test.....

Yesterday, I got to have dinner with Melissa. We walked through the Hobby Lobby (I can always find something I NEED there...) and discovered that apparently August is NOT too early for Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations. We disagreed, but no one asked our opinion. Then found our way to Lobster Queso and salads. Delicious and fun! And then we decided to look at shoes...oh the interesting shoes we saw.....Also, thanks to Melissa for the title of this post :-)

I got the BEST email last night. Hope is alive and well, my friends. Thank you for sending it to me, friend.

I'm in full-on school preparation mode. By this, I do not mean to say that I am ready to go back. I do mean to say that every time I get on my computer I find myself googling something that has to do with teaching, supplies, ideas, curriculum, etc. It's around this time every year that I realize I need to read about 10 more books to provide me with more knowledge about how to be a good teacher. I never get a chance to read all 10 of the books that I decide are ABSOLUTELY essential to read....but things seem to go okay during the school year anyway. I guess it's a good thing that I'm striving to be better each year....but sometimes I think it has more to do with my worrying nature that drives my August teacher research craziness.

I make NO promises to post this weekend...I'll be busy soaking up the summer sun. However, when I return on Monday, no more beach trips for me, so I should be a blogging fool again! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday!
