Happy Halloween!

Halloween was quite fun with Little Miss this year. First, on the day before Halloween, we carved the pumpkins.

She wasn't sure at first.

Okay...I'll touch it....

"No, Mimi hold it. I touch it."

She would, however, put seeds in our discard pile.

Then we drew on our design.

And carved it!

Time for pumpkin #2!

This one was all Kennedy's design.

This was about halfway through the artist's work. She said it was Mickey in a car. She pointed out all of Mickey's features to us and the car's as well. We could see exactly NONE of her vision. But we believed her.

Finished products. There were parts of K's pumpkin that she insisted did not need to be cut out. She had a vision, I tell you.

All lit up.

Here's a closeup of Mickey in his car...

Halloween morning we put on her Halloween outfit and she said she'd like to wear earrings as well. So here is my 2-going-on-16 year old.

At nap time she crawled into my bed, said, "Mommy, I snuggle in," and then proceeded to read aloud Go Dog Go. She missed a few parts, but did quite well.

After naptime, we watched part of The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and ate an early dinner. Family costumes this year were all about Mickey and friends. Here's Daddy in Okinawa dressed as Mickey!

(Does he not get MAJOR points!?)

And here are Kennedy and I. I'm Daisy Duck. Feathers, bow and all. And Kennedy is a two-year-old who refused to put on her birthday outfit to dress up as Minnie, but agreed to put on her Minnie hat for a picture. She was clearly thrilled about this whole costume idea...

Aw, now that's better!

After MUCH observation of other kiddos doing this Trick-or-Treating thing, Kennedy agreed to try it out for herself. She would NOT agree to say "trick-or-treat" to anyone, but did pick out her own candy, put it in her bucket and say thank you to the person who gave it to her.

It was her first lollipop. She discovered a new love...so she had another...and then one more for fun.

It may have taken a little while to calm down after the evening was over....no idea why....

And then she took this gem of me. Stealing a bite of her apple. I asked Mimi if I could be awarded a few parenting points back from the lollipop debacle if the last thing Kennedy ate on Halloween was an apple...

A successful holiday in the books!
