A funny thing happened…

First, we had a FABULOUS time in Wisconsin this past weekend. And though I was told that I couldn’t post ALL of the pictures I took, Marissa did not say that I couldn’t post this one. So here’s a glimpse of the fun that was Wisconsin:

IMAG0085 There will be a few more pictures and details to share later on because I simply must tell this story.

Last night, my mom went to get water from the dispenser in the front of the refrigerator. Sounds innocent enough, right? Well she walked away with a full cup of water, but the refrigerator wasn’t finished dispensing water. It. just. kept. flowing.

We pushed and pulled and asked nicely and told meanly and no luck. Water. flowing. everywhere.

Thank goodness my parents were in town because had I been home alone, it is at this point that I would have run out of hands. I stood at the dispenser and collected water, dumped it in the sink, rinse and repeat. Mom and Dad took on the task of trying to figure out how to get the water situation under control.

We gave up on attempting to fix the real issue and decided to settle for turning the water off to the refrigerator so the water would stop trying to flood the kitchen. Mom located the cut off valve under the kitchen sink and called Dad over to use super-human strength (and a wrench) to shut off the water. Problem solved, right? Well, I think not. The valve is broken. Turn it as much as you like, but the water is still flowing out of the front of the refrigerator at an amazing pace for such a small tube.

Turning the water off to the house seems like a poor decision for the night so Dad comes up with the idea that we’re going to disconnect the water line from the back of the fridge, take it to the sink and clamp it off. So he unscrews the water line (water sprays everywhere) puts his thumb over the line, hands it to mom on the front side of the fridge (water sprays everywhere) and she places it so that it’s spraying into the sink. Dad took over the babysitting of the spraying while Mom retrieved a clamp from the garage. The line was then folded in half and clamped. Then Mom and I began our usual worrying….what if that clamp slides off in the middle of the night?! Then there will be water EVERYWHERE! So this idea came to be:

Yes, that’s a pot over the clamped hose. Yes, the light is still on because the fridge STILL believes that it is dispensing water. Luckily, the system held overnight and the refrigerator repairman showed up this morning. So far tonight has been uneventful…I’m hoping it stays that way!

Tee hee...I'm glad you had fun in Wisconsin, but that refrigerator story is just too funny! That fridge has proven to be quite a troublemaker for y'all! :-P Glad you're doing well! Can't wait to see y'all again...in August. :D

I swear, only you my dear, only you. And yet this type of situation always seems to happen when your parents are around...that's either a really good thing or a very strange occurrence ;)
