A friend of mine from school has a blog post like this each Thursday. I loved the idea, so as any good teacher would do, I stole it.
So here's my list today:
1. I'm thankful for my husband. The word "amazing" does not begin to describe how wonderful he has been supporting me through all of this.
2. I'm thankful for all of my friends and family. We have had so much love and support in the last week. I'm thankful for anyone who has been brave enough to say SOMETHING to us. I know it must be hard to come up with something to say....we joke that we get a lot of "there are no words" and "I don't know what to say" as the beginning of someone's statement to us....but quite honestly, I'm just thrilled when people say something and have faith that I will not spontaneously combust if they accidentally say something that may not have been the best choice.
3. I'm thankful for our first child, Chestnut. He's adorable and he knows it. He makes me laugh and smile through tears. I mean, really:
4. I'm thankful for the four months I spent getting to know the baby boy we just lost. It's not the ending we were hoping and praying for, but I'm thankful that we were able to get pregnant and I got to enjoy the pregnancy for as long as I did. I don't know if everyone is aware, but we'd been trying for almost two years to get pregnant and we were going to start infertility treatment when we found out we were pregnant. Its a blessing to know that its possible for us to get pregnant on our own.
5. I am thankful for the child in my class who was brave enough and mature enough to draw a picture and write on it, "Dear Mrs. Eckert I'm so sorry about the baby. I'm so very sad." And I'm thankful to the teachers who delivered that message to me. What an amazing child. I will treasure that picture forever.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday.
